PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, are man-made chemicals that have been made in a variety of manufacturing processes since the 1940s. PFAS have been linked to a variety of hazardous health effects and are known as “Forever” and “Everywhere” chemicals due to their stability and global prevalence. For more information, visit the sources listed under our recommended literature.
PFAS “Removal” solutions separate or encapsulate PFAS from the bulk stream, but a smaller, highly concentrated PFAS waste stream remains. The concentrate then must be stored on-site, disposed of in a landfill, or sent to an expensive incinerator. Incineration is rapidly being banned due to its questionable effectiveness. A PFAS “Destruction” solution actually breaks down chemical bonds in PFAS thereby destroying these compounds. Removal technologies capture PFAS, whereas destructive technologies eliminate PFAS.
Plasma is a gaseous state of matter containing ions, atoms and atomic fragments, and free electrons. For more background information, visit the sources listed under our recommended literature.
DMAX’s process utilizes what’s known as “non-thermal” plasma that has a low energy usage. Whereas thermal plasma requires heating the entire system to ionize the gas, DMAX uses an electrical discharge to ionize (and energize) the electrons, while the bulk of the system remains close to room temperature.
A Standard DMAX Plasma Generating Network (DPGN) unit requires less power to run than most household electric ovens.
First and foremost, DMAX Plasma is committed to deliver safe and easy to use systems to the market. Every DMAX Enhanced Contact Plasma Reactor (ECo-PRe™) has been designed for safe and durable high voltage production, with Faraday cage enclosures and a variety of backup safeguards to ensure safe operation.
